Billy Bell laid Torrey out on the old Pueblo lands above the Pacific in 1957. Rees Jones rebuilt the South for the 2008 Open; Tiger won on a Monday. The USGA came back in 2021. Free Fall is the South canyon — ice plant, sandstone, hang gliders if the wind is right. You can play it with a city tee time. That is the point.
