Mike Keiser bought a sheep ranch on the Oregon coast and asked a young Scot to build a course.

Kidd was in his twenties. The first Bandon course opened in 1999 and made the sheep ranch a pilgrimage. Coore and Crenshaw, Doak, Fazio, and Kidd again filled out the rest. Gorse, dunes, the last light on the Pacific. The Drop is the cliff. The Deer wandered into a frame and stayed. You do not need a tee sheet to know which way the wind is going.
