Old Warson Country Club
St. Louis, Missouri · Parkland · 1955
Robert Trent Jones Sr.
Thirty-eight St. Louis men wanted a course that would be taken seriously. Jones built it. The Ryder Cup came.
Work started in 1953. Dutch Harrison was the first professional. The course opened in 1955 and hosted the 1971 Ryder Cup — the U.S. over Britain 18½–13½. The U.S. Women’s Amateur came in 2009. The routing, the greens, most of the bunkers are still Jones. The Crossing is the path between two ponds. Warson House is the walk in under a Missouri sun.
