Spyglass Hill
Carmel, CA · Coastal · 1966
Robert Trent Jones Sr.
Named for Stevenson. Ice plant, dunes, then the pines.
Jones opened Spyglass in 1966 on the inland side of 17-Mile Drive. The first five holes are dunes and ice plant. Then the forest takes you. Robert Louis Stevenson walked this coast and wrote Treasure Island; the holes are named for it. Oh, Deer is the local rules committee wandering through a frame.
